Frequently Asked Questions

There are so many models. Which one fits me?

Guitarlift® enables a rich variety of playing positions and postures. A decisive advantage enabled by our wide product portfolio. To find the model that suits you, we recommend using our webshop and model finder. If there are still uncertainties, our knowledgeable team of guitarists is available for consultation. You are welcome to send us a picture of your current playing posture to receive a specific recommendation.

Do you also ship to my country?

We ship worldwide with DHL or Fedex.

Will the shellac of my guitar be damaged if I use Guitarlift®?

Many master guitars have a fine shellac polish, the composition of which can vary depending on the manufacturer and workshop. Although we cannot make universal predictions about the material combinations (see disclaimer), our experiences show that our suction cups usually leave no or only minimal traces that can be easily polished if necessary. In addition, the distance that Guitarlift® creates between the player and the guitar prevents sweat from hitting the polish and mechanical wear.

How do I adjust the playing position?

To find the optimal setting of your individual Guitarlift®, you should know your preferred playing position. The playing experience with Guitarlift® is different from that with a footrest and may require a complete realignment. The included key allows the suction cups to be easily moved to adjust the playing angle. The suction cups should be positioned on the edge of the guitar body and the release tabs should be facing outward to be able to remove them without any problems.

Is Guitarlift® also suitable for left-handers?

Absolutely! As a left-hander, you can use Guitarlift® without restrictions by repositioning the suction cups so that they are on the logo side.

How well do the suction cups adhere?

Our durable suction cups made of high-quality industrial silicone ensure a secure connection between Guitarlift® and the guitar. To ensure durability, the suction cups should always be clean and grease-free. Please remove Guitarlift® from the guitar by lifting the release tab of the suction cups vertically.

What if the suction cups do not adhere?

If the suction cups unexpectedly detach, clean them under running water with a little dish soap and then gently dry them with a lint-free cloth. If the suction cup sticks to glass but not to your guitar, this could be due to a matte or porous polish on the guitar. In this case, we recommend applying films to the guitar. You can purchase these in our accessory shop.

What if the suction cups are deformed?

If the suction cups are deformed, for example due to pressure, you can bring them back to their original shape by soaking them in boiling water for about 5-10 minutes. The milky-white discoloration disappears after a few hours.

What is the difference between the different suction cups that are offered?

In our webshop we offer two variants of suction cups, which only differ in the screw length. The model series Premium Transparent and Ultimate Matte Black use 6mm thick Perspex® acrylic glass and therefore require longer screws, while all other models use 4mm thick Plexiglas® and shorter screws.

What do I do if my Guitarlift® slips on my trouser leg?

The pre-assembled foam rubber pad effectively prevents the guitar from slipping. If the pad is worn, it can be washed at 30°C and/or slightly roughened with sandpaper to restore its slip resistance.

Do the films leave traces when removed?

The interaction between shellac and our 3M® adhesive pads varies depending on the polish. Avoid violent removal of the adhesive films! The adhesive can be dissolved with some patience and oil (e.g., paraffin oil or petroleum). A repolishing with a polishing cloth may be necessary to remove all residues. We are working on adhesive-free solutions for guitars with matte-porous polish.

What are the test films used for?

With the test films, you can try out the positioning of Guitarlift® on guitars with a matte-porous polish. The films are light and can be removed and repositioned without leaving any residue. Once you decide on a final position, we recommend the use of adhesive pads.
